Help promote the National Summer Reading Challenge to 4-12 year olds in several Poole libraries. The Challenge is run in 97% of UK public libraries, with 780,000 children taking part, with incentives, activities and events designed to create a real buzz.
Helpers will be creating and maintaining a promotional stand in the libraries and helping with events. Also showing children the Summer Reading Challenge website.
There will be a pre-meeting on 11th July and it will after school/early evening. Support will also be provided by library managers and colleagues on each of your days.
A chance to take part in a national event supporting children's reading. The challenge is simple - to read six or more library books over the summer. You'll be key to generating interest and excitement about the challenge for each child.
10am to 2pm on each Monday during the Challenge:23rd & 30th July and 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th August. You don’t have to do every Monday, although it would be helpful if you are available for several of them.
It would be helpful to have an interest in reading and in working with children, a willingness to talk to children about books and a certain amount of creativity.
